| There is no way to describe my feelings of last night! Jonathan has worked for 3 years to win the championship game for the minor league baseball team he is on. Every year the team comes short of getting to the big game. This year they finally made it!! Last night was the big game. I was a bundle of nerves. This is his last year in minors so that meant his last chance. The game started out really good. 5-0 our team! Then in one inning the other team got 6 runs. The score stayed 5-6 until the last inning. Then our team came up to bat and we got three runs!!! Yay!! Now, they have last ups. My heart was going crazy! Jonathan is pitching so I know the game rests in his hands. I was so scared he would lose his composure, lose the game, and forever have that as his reminder. BUT my boy went out there and threw 9 strikes in a row!!! 9 STRIKES!! We were told later that's never happened on the minor league field before. He was smiling and having fun through the whole thing. I was crying!! Just could not believe this boy I call my son!! He was one hyper boy the rest of the night! Amazing stuff! Congratulations Jonathan!! You deserve it!:) | | |
| Ashley turns 15 on Sunday. Does this bother me? Yes, for some reason it does!! The "years ahead" suddenly seem "here" if you know what I mean!! When she was born 15 looked a good many years off in the future. But here we are. Things are gonna change around here. Not only will she be joining Youth activities but the girl will also get behind the wheel of a car!! HELP!! I let her drive through the trailer court the other day. HA! She had never done any driving before so it was quite the experience for us all. PLUS, she had to put the seat back soooooo far!! Her legs are much much longer than mine. She says she wants her father to teach her to drive. Hmmmm, wonder if that's a good idea??? Happy Birthday Ashley! I love you:) | | |
| Hello again! What a busy week around here! Have you ever been so tired that you walk around in the morning with your eyes closed? That's the way I was this morning for about 1/2 an hour! Guess I'm just not as young as I used to be:) We have Adult Winter Bible School at church. James Miller is talking about the Holy Spirit and my Dad is talking about prophecy. Very interesting. I didn't go last night but I'm looking forward to going back tonight and hearing more. Today I'm going to wash some windows! Hopefully I will be able to look outside and see a clear blue sky (without any spots) when I'm finished! It's going to be a gorgeous day and I think it's actually going to be fun to be outside, enjoy the day, and get clean windows!! Now, if I can get the two 2 year olds to behave! 12 days until Haiti! Wow! I'm really looking forward to getting up on that mountain and meeting people that Dana's have been talking about. Not sure if I'll update again before we go so I'll ask now for you to remember us in your prayers. I'm a little nervous about the traveling part!! Pray for our safety and pray especially for Ashley and Jonathan. Thank you! Hope you all have a wonderful weekend! | | |
| How time does fly!! Four weeks from today it will be time to leave for Haiti! It will be here before I know it. And of course, I'm no where near being ready. Knowing me, I will procrastinate until the last possible minute to get things around. Thanksgiving in Haiti - should be interesting and unforgettable! Life around here is normal! Kids around all day long. Adult conversation whenever I can get it. Yesterday my phone never rang - the whole entire day!! The Remembrance Committee is gearing up for the big Pastor Appreciation lunch on Sunday. Amazing how we expect our ministers to do EVERYTHING - do we think about the time and effort it takes for them to get it all done? Hopefully this lunch will remind us to thank them all year for the things they do. God bless all four of them and their wives. Ashley has a Learning Fair at school Thursday night. That's when we go and sit through each of her classes for about 15 minutes each. The teachers tell us what they expect of the students and we get the first report card! It's always fun to see these teachers I hear so much about. One of her teachers was teaching when I was in middle school so it will be great to see her again. I just got done making cookies this morning. Nice to have some around for after school snack and then put some in the freezer for future snacking. Hope you all have a wonderful day | | |
